1986 |
There
was a time, say twenty years ago, when agents did not want to bother with
condominiums. They were not popular, they were deemed hard to sell. Condo
financing was often difficult. And the prices went from $20,000 to maybe
$250,000. And there were more in the 20K to 100K range. It was hard to
make a buck. Condominiums were just hard.
Fortunately for me, the idea for Condo CanDoŽ came along. I discovered I
liked the challenges of not being able to find condos on most of the maps
because the streets were not maintained by the city. I delighted in
finding the list of
FHA approved condominiums. I loved walking new construction. I sought out
the complexes by going through the hard copies of the tax maps. Drove to
every complex to determine the type of heating, made over 700 maps (this
was before Polaris), took thousands of pictures and scanned them all in to
our database (before digital).
My point is...we do get
into the market. We do ask
questions. We do voice our
concerns about overbuilding, poor building, good maintenance,
substandard management. We do
speak to Home Owners' Associations. We
do participate in Attached Housing Studies with Universities across
this country.
We do serve the Charlotte
Condominium Communities.
We do care.
